When we have work to do... (recovery work)... at times there is perspiration and it's hard work that's worth the effort.

How do we go about inspiring and encouraging others on our path?

Do we spend a lot of work -- and time, and effort, towards inspiring and encouraging others? How do we do it? What are the results? How has it affected us?

Heya Vicror,

So you're the dark poet, huh?

Let me recommend some interesting reading for you. Thomas Merton. He was a Cistercian monk, and what a profound writer! His self-proclaimed title is "an artist" and "a poet". He never was an alcoholic, but if he ever started drinking, he'd have probably joined our ranks. Fortunately for the world and for a lot of us, he found the solution we find: God as we understand Him.

His writings will make you think and ponder every idea you ever held onto about "God" and "religion". If you are the "real mccoy", you'll be able to identify with Merton. He had that same hole in his heart that we all had. And boy could that fellow ever beat himself up - just like us.

Dark - profound - but definitely a trusted servant of God who had a deep and loving, but sometimes stormy and dark, relationship with his Maker.

Wow Victor,

That was so heavy I gained 10 pounds just reading it!

You inspired me to write something too. It's in the poetry section. I haven't been inspired in a couple years, so it was exhilarating.

I love it how we're all so different & yet we "get" what we're saying cuz we're alcoholic. We truly do have a bond that glues us together!
