One by One

One by one the days go by
And my desire to drink begins to recede
I have decided to face my disease head on
I have to get honest with you and me.

I don't want hide from my family anymore
Who has loved me through thick and thin
But they are tired of coming in last place
Because my desire to drink always wins.

I am tired of living a life of lies
Its time to get honest so I can see
When I drank I hurt the lives of many
So many people other then me.

I am tired of living a lonely life
Many times my shadow was my only friend
And after a night of lonely drinking
I would get up and see him again.

One by one the days go by
Every step I take relieves some fear
I've slowly lost the desire to drink
And I have gained the desire to share.

So don't give up before the miracle
You're in a battle and you must fight
Alcohol is poured into little glasses
But it is big enough to take your life.
