Grateful
What am I grateful for?
Well let me tell you the list is long
From being grateful I am not dead
To feeling like I finally belong.
I am grateful for the friends I have
The ones that walk this path with me
They hold me accountable for my actions
We do this so we can be free.
I am grateful for the little things
You see I never stopped to smell the rose
I was an out of control dysfunctional train
Causing havoc wherever I would go.
I am grateful for the newcomer
Who comes in broken and subdued
We get a chance to give it away
Because we see ourselves in you.
I am grateful for the God I have
It was always me who let go of his hand
I never thought I was worthy of his love
Today I know he loves me just the way I am.
I am grateful for my sobriety
I am truly blessed to live this way
It is further from anything I imagined
And it keeps getting better everyday.
