Thank You

We came here with broken spirits
Emptiness engulfed our souls
The road to happiness had long disappeared
There was nowhere left to go.

We did the best we could
With what we had
Though sad it is very true
The tears we shed were tears of shame
That’s all we new to do.

Fear engulfed our every breath
We were hollow to the bone
Being faced with a cold reality
We were standing all alone.

With no direction in which to turn
We got down on our knees
We asked to be relieved of this alcohol demon
Dear god would you help us please.

He guided us to the room of A.A
And he taught us how to live
He showed us the secret to a happier life
What we were taught
We would freely give.

Now my life is joyous and free
But what I really want to say
To Dr. Bob, Bill W. and the rest of you
Thank you for my life today.

My Epic Anti-Beer Poem, Part 1

Postby msjwh » Tue Dec 20, 2011 11:37 pm

Beer is one of the very worst drinks; it is often tea-colored and stinks.
It will make you lazy, it will make you cheesy; it will relax you and make you weezy.
It will make you happy, it will make you sad; it will also make you very mad.
It will make you fat, it will make you vomit; it will give you a feeling that hits like a comet.
It will make your liver very unhappy; and your time in the bathroom will be very crappy.
It can turn an enemy into your buddy; when you're out of beer, you will feel cruddy.
Beer may make you feel no fear; you may even want to kiss a deer.
You can drink it cold, you can drink it warm; it may relax you in a thunderstorm.

All without

Seeing the world that has no beer
Not for you just for me
Facing clear thought with a smidgen of fear
Not really sure who to be

Patterns and trends
Less or more change to be found
Shortage of friends
Nice to have feet firmly on my ground

Mind almost free
Create and plan
Looking closely at who to be
Becoming my own fan

The year ahead
After many failed tries
From often drunk I have fled
Just now feeling slightly wise

Vision and a plan
Fresh breeze warm soft sand
Ideas say I can
Sing a song from a new band

What was is not now
Finding better ground
A fresh field to plow
Nice to be currently found

Up to the mountain
Inspired and clear
My toes in the life fountain
All without beer
