Through a Glass Darkly
The blinding light seared our souls.
We couldn’t cope, no hope, no goals.
We used a glass to dull the pain.
And alcohol left a lasting stain.
For a time drink became our friend.
But it turned against us in the end.
Enslaved us and became our God.
Prisoners of our own facade.
Clarity came as we called for aid.
God broke that glass and let us trade
Our dimming vision for a sight
So pure, so true, so full, so right!
