Those Other People!

Those Other People

"Just like you, I have often thought myself the victim of what other
people say and do. Yet every time I confessed the sins of such
people, especially those whose sins did not correspond exactly with
my own, I found that I only increased the total damage. My own
resentment, my self-pity would often render me well-nigh useless to

"So, nowadays, if anyone talks of me so as to hurt, I first ask myself if
there is any truth at all in what they say. If there is none, I try to
remember that I too have had my periods of speaking bitterly of
others; that hurtful gossip is but a symptom of our remaining
emotional illness; and consequently that I must never be angry at the
unreasonableness of sick people.

"Under very trying conditions I have had, again and again, to forgive
others--also myself. Have you recently tried this?"

Letter, 1946

As Bill Sees It , p.268

I understand.

One of the most harmful things that I've experienced in the Fellowship is
hurtful gossip. It's a real tough one to deal with. The solution above is one that I learned to use a long time ago -- and it's helpful for me to remember it.

Oh yeah the power of the tounge (its sharper than a two edged sword)

just when I think I`m not practicing my program I relize that I really am

just last week something at work with a coworker was going on and my first reaction was of course not the right one  but I (pondered it) before I did or said anything all that pondering was me actually useing the tools of my program to come to a conclusion of what does it really matter anyway I`m sick she`s sick and 2 sicks do not make a well!!

I prayed for her and for help to do the right thing wich was nothing at all and two days later she texts me this really insightful little prayer thing
I text her back thankyou for reminding me ! she says your welcome!!
now the air is cleared and we are joking around with eachother again she`s even friend requested me on facebook since then :o

so even when I think that I`m far from the program GOD takes over and reminds me to practice it and ask HIM for help

Thanks D that was right inline with whats up with me HOW did you Know that

Thank you, Cessie. I appreciate you -- and all that you do for me, with every post that I read from you! It really makes my day!

Needed to hear that. I have had recent experience with people I totally respect in the program that have been around a while, taking others inventory, judging them, right or wrong that is not who I want to be today. I am working toward change. And talking about someone else's sobriety is not in that category.

My pet hate is people whispering to one another in meetings, what is there to whisper about, why so secretive? :?

My mind tells me if they were speaking the honest truth there would be no need to whisper. It then tells me they must be either gossiping about a fellow member or doing a character assassination on someone? 8)

Then the rescuer in me wants to find out who it is so i can save them from these gossips! Then the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention and my body goes on amber alert as i scan the room looking for the victim so i can save him/her!

Then i remind myself its nothing to do with me and if i see something i dont like in a meeting all i've got to do is make sure i dont do it.

I understand that on! I have to remind myself that -- some people are simply reminding me -- by what they do -- what I should not do."
