Hi Jackie here and still an alcoholic.

I just returned from a meeting and the readings included mention of the

changes that come about from attending AA meetings. So being of alcoho

lic mind I'd like to share what I have seen and what I ponder over my m

eager 90 odd days.

I've seen dispair of new comers (like myself) . I've seen the serenity of

the older wiser ones. The new comers that come and then leave, I

wonder if they are alright, are they strong enough to make it on their

own? The people who come but SLIP and come back and feel shame &

dispair over and over again. I hope someday they will just stay and not

hurt anymore.

But mostly I see people working together to try and improve and live a

better life. When I look around the rooms I see smiles of freindship and

support. The man who has accepted the loss of his marriage and is no

longer bitter. The young woman who is still struggling with her disease

but is helping her freind thru a rough spot.

And as I look around a feeling of peace and happiness comes over me.

Somedays are like walking in a storm that you cant see the sky or where

you are going. The winds push against you and it seems so cold and

lonely. Then comes a moment like tonite and you feel like you have found

a refuge from the storm in this simple room.

Just a bit of rambling but I just had to share my thots.

Another 24 to all.
