I spent about five hours shadowing a Catholic chaplain at a local jail on Friday. My objective was to receive some training on how to be a chaplain at the jails. We went from pod to pod to pod. She prayed and spoke with the inmates while I listened. Over and over again the words she said to the inmates were the steps of our program: don't worry about others, each day tell God you are sorry for one thing, give your fear to God, and so on.
I have been Catholic all my life but AA 7 months. Although I have read about the history of AA and its basis in Christianity it has never been driven home so clearly why this program works. Once again I thank God, my Higher Power, for bringing me to AA so I could return to Him.
