Dec, Bil W’s uncle, Clarence Griffith, died of tuberculosis in CO.

1917
Dec, Congress approved the 18th amendment to the US Constitution for the prohibition of alcohol

1921
Dec, Bill W’s grandmother, Ella Brock Griffith, died.

1923
Dec 25, Christmas, Bill W wrote a vow in the flyleaf of the family bible: “Thank you for your love and help this terrible year. For your Christmas, I make you this present: No liquor will pass my lips for one year. I’ll make the effort to keep my word and make you happy.â€
