And, Jesus, too!
We wouldn't have a Christmas... and probably no sobriety either, had it not been for Jesus and the Christian Movement. We took their spiritual tools and re-worked them into 12 Steps and a Fellowship of the Spirit that could work for alcoholics to achieve and maintain sobriety... without being into religion.
When I was still drinking... Christmas was the most difficult time of the year for me. Full of sadness, guilt, and remorse.
When I first got sober... Christmas was a difficult time... probably because I got sober in November!

But, it was also difficult for the next year after I got sober... so I got busy trying offer the gift of sobriety to others, and to help them during their difficult Christmas times. And, that was what helped me the most... trying to help others instead of keeping my mind on myself.
This Christmas, I've been spending more time than I ever did in -- thinking about Jesus, and reflecting on all the things that I wouldn't have had, if he had not been born, and lived, and gave the ultimate sacrifice for me.... and the wonderful things that the world can experience, including Christmas, A.A., and sobriety... because of Him.
No. I'm not preaching and I didn't get religious!

I'm just feeling a bit grateful!
