Thanks for sharing that RonH!
For a while, when I was new in AA, I would hear things like "If you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans" and everyone would laugh at the joke. I thought that meant that I wasn't supposed to have any plans. And, probably, most of the AA's in those particular meetings thought the same thing.
At the time I was literally trudging the road of sobriety in my life (Not much happy destiny, then) until my sponsor had me start making a Daily To Do List. Then, he would check on me to make sure I was getting my To Do list done daily, and check on how I was doing with it.
That "To Do List" totally turned things around for me and for a long time I wondered "How do sponsors learn this stuff!". I didn't want to ask him, and appear dumb, and then one day while following the instructions on page 83-88 of the Big Book, there it was!!! "We consider our plans for the day!"
That made such a huge impact on my life that I started doing a written walk through of pages 83-88 daily, including my plans. What an amazing change that started to take place in me and in all of my life!!!
Today, when I slip off the edge of the Road of Happy Destiny, I know it's usually because I either woke up or went to sleep without following my instructions of pages 83-88.
Looking forward to seeing you in Eureka Springs next year!!! Or, somewhere else in AA, before then!
Take care!
