Lessons in Life
Schools out but life is in session
Each day is a new path with a brand new lesson,
It could be a lesson from far or near
Brought on by the emotions of anger or fear.
They could be lessons about our inner soul
How to find God and let go of control,
Maybe it's a lesson we learn from each other
Being there for a sister or hugging our brother.
The lessons I learn affect my life,
How I react to my children or speak to my wife.
If it's a lesson of faith or one of love that I seek,
I can find it in these rooms not on a mountain peak.
I've had lessons surrounded with calamity and joy,
I've had to relearn them from the life I destroyed.
Most of my lessons I have learned from you
Emulating your footsteps in all that I do,
You told me each day would bring a brand new lesson
That school was out and life was in session.
