Focusing on Today in Sobriety

The past week has been a hard one. Yesterday our son would of been ten months old. On top of that, there has been a lot of chaos in our immeadiate and extended family lately. Family holiday coming up so this could be really interesting ... or it could be great.

Could being the key word. To quote Mark Twain, "I've suffered a great many catastrophes in my life. Most of them never even happened".

Today I need to keep it real simple and focus on today. God will give me exactly what I need for today and God will give me what I need for tomorrow, tomorrow.

24 hours at a time ...

God. I read that "He could and would -- if He were sought."

Over the years, those words seem to have been engraved into my brain. Because, often -- not always -- but more times than not, they seem to come to mind when I'm facing serious difficulties. I learned that He can and will -- when I turn to Him and seek Him.

Today is all I have. Might as well make it the best today I can.

I am having a holiday dinner at my house. My children are not speaking to each other because they are fighting over their late father's money.
So they are not sure they want to come.

I know several alcoholics who love my cooking!

Sometimes family and serenity don't like to mix!
