Why AA is the best place to speak

Postby merckx » Thu Dec 30, 2010 8:14 am

I have done a lot of public speaking and last night I spoke at a speaker meeting for the first time. I started out with this comment:

Anytime you speak to a room full of people there will be people who love you and people who you piss off. Tonight if something from my story helps you not drink today ... good. If I say something that pisses someone off, well that's okay too because we are people who practice acceptance and you'll just have some good practice tonight. So either way, love it or hate it, you're likely to hear something that will help you not drink tomorrow.

Was at a speaker meeting a few weeks back. 8)

The Irish guy doing the talking started with' i was going to talk about humility tonight but there's not a big enough crowd in so i wont bother!'

Loved it! :D
